Reports on childhood neurodevelopmental and neurosensory outcomes following acute bilirubin encephalopathy from low- and middle-income countries are scarce. This study aimed to analyze the neurodevelopmental and neurosensory outcomes of survivors of acute bilirubin encephalopathy. Retrospective cohort. Neonates with admission diagnosis of acute bilirubin encephalopathy were followed up and assessed for neuromotor, neurodevelopmental and neurosensory functions between 18m and 12.5years of age. In 67 neonates with acute bilirubin encephalopathy, a composite outcome of cerebral palsy or death was observed in 33 (49%) subjects. Choreo-athetoid cerebral palsy [19 (73%)] was the most common type observed. Sensori-neural hearing loss was observed in 46 (79%) subjects. Subjects with cerebral palsy had significantly low Developmental profile-3 scores in all assessed domains. Neonates with an early-stage acute bilirubin encephalopathy (aOR (95% C.I) 0.12 (0.05-0.71); p=0.02) and those with a normal neurological examination at discharge (aOR (95% C.I) 0.11 (0.06-0.7); p=0.049) had significantly lower odds of the primary outcome. Adsorption isotherms of organic dyes were accurately described by Langmuir adsorption model with correlation coefficients of 0.98 and kinetic data followed the pseudo-second-order model. The maximum adsorption capacity of NZIF for Congo red (CR) and methylene blue (MB) reached 769 and 10 mg/g, respectively, which were 6 and 5 times higher than that of ZIF-8. The adsorption behavior of sunset yellow and crystal violet was examined for mechanism investigation. Analysis of pore size, molecular size, zeta potential and FTIR measurement together revealed that mesopores in NZIF provided more interaction sites and led to enhanced adsorption capacity. Hydrogen bonding and π-π stacking which resulted from the interaction between introduced nucleotide monophosphate and dyes dominated the driving forces for adsorption, where electrostatic interaction was also involved. In this review, a total of 3823 bibliographic records derived from recent 10 years are visualized based on scientometric analysis. The results indicate metal-free CNMs-mediated advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) might be a motive force to develop CNMs application for wastewater treatment; however, corresponding evaluations of aquatic toxicity still lack sufficient attention. Therefore, recent breakthroughs and topical innovations related to prevalent wastewater treatment technologies (i.e., adsorption, catalysis and membrane separation) using three typical dimensional CNMs (nanodiamonds, carbon nanotubes, and graphene-based nanomaterials) are comprehensively summarized in-depth, along with a compendious introduction to some novel techniques (e.g., computational simulation) for identifying reaction mechanisms. Then, current research focusing on CNMs-associated aquatic toxicity is discussed thoroughly, mainly demonstrating (1) the adverse effects on aquatic organisms should not be overlooked prior to large-scale CNMs application; (2) divergent consequences can be further reduced if the ecological niche of aquatic organisms is emphasized; and (3) further investigations on joint toxicity can provide greater beneficial insight into realistic exposure scenarios. Finally, ongoing challenges and developmental directions of CNMs-based wastewater treatment and evaluation of its aquatic toxicity are pinpointed and shaped in terms of future research.The removal mechanism from the reductive dechlorination of trichloroethylene (TCE) by zero valent magnesium (ZVMg) in aqueous solution is systematically studied. Following the preparation and characterization of ball-milled micro ZVMg with graphite (ZVMg/C) particles, this paper evaluated the TCE reaction rates, pathways, utilization rates and aging effects of ZVMg/C particles in aqueous solution under uncontrolled pH conditions. Overall, 38 μM of TCE was transformed by 10 g/L of ZVMg/C to methane (62.51%) and n-hexane (11.86%) and ethane (7.40%) and other alkene and alkyne products through the catalytic hydrogenation pathway. The measured surface area normalized pseudo-first order rate constants (KSA) were up to 9.31 × 10-2 L/m2/h and the utilization rate of Mg0 accounted for around 60%. The KSA were decreased to 1.90 × 10-2 L/m2/h in case of ZVMg/C being exposed in the atmosphere for 6 days due to 7.3% reduction in the utilization rate of Mg0 from the initial 85.2%, and 5.11 × 10-2 L/m2 h in case of ZVMg/C aged in water for one day.
