Twenty minute whole blood clotting test (20WBCT) is a useful and informative bedside test recommended by WHO for diagnosis of significant coagulopathy following snakebite envenoming since it to some extent predicts the need for anti-venom therapy. Prothrombin time (PT), international normalized ratio (INR) and activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) are standard clotting assays that are widely used for diagnosis of coagulopathy. The purpose of this study is to compare 20WBCT with the standard clotting assays (PT, INR, APTT, fibrinogen) in management of Malayan pit viper bitten-patients. We studied 296 victims prospectively during a 3-year period. In total, 115 (38.9%) cases showed a positive 20WBCT (un-clot) suggesting systemic envenomation. Thrombocytopenia (platelet count less than 100,000/μL), prolonged PT, prolonged APTT, INR ≥ 1.2, and fibrinogen level 1.155 had a sensitivity of 78.5% and specificity of 90.3% while 20WBCT had sensitivity of 81.0% and specificity of 90.3%. CONCLUSIONS Both 20WBCT and INR are useful to assess coagulation abnormality in Malayan pit viper-bitten patients. This study was aimed at evaluating the impact of analyzing certain smile esthetic parameters on diagnosis and treatment plan for individuals seeking orthodontic treatment. An electronic questionnaire with 24 questions arranged on five main axes was designed. These axes included smile arc, smile line, buccal corridors, smile symmetry, and photographic analysis of the smile, with several questions in each axis. The electronic link of the questionnaire was sent to all members of the Iraqi Orthodontic Society in April 2019. The answers were collected after 4weeks of questionnaire link distribution date. To identify and treat the gamete responsible for complete fertilization failure with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) using a newly proposed assisted gamete treatment (AGT). Prospective cohort study. Center for reproductive medicine. One-hundred and fourteen couples with an adequate number of spermatozoa for ICSI and a fertilization rate of ≤10%, after controlling for maternal age. Couples with an oocyte-related oocyte activation deficiency (OAD) underwent a subsequent cycle with a modified superovulation protocol; couples with sperm-related OAD had an additional genetic and epigenetic assessment to identify mutations and expression levels of the corresponding genes. Treatment cycle outcome for couples undergoing ICSI with either a modified superovulation protocol or AGT compared with their historical cycle. A total of 114 couples matched the inclusion criteria, representing approximately 1.3% of the total ICSI cycles performed at our center, with age-matched controls. Fifty-two couples wions and function, AGT was successful. The AGT-revised protocol yielded an even higher fertilization rate than the AGT-initial protocol, resulting in the birth of healthy offspring in all couples who achieved a clinical pregnancy.
