Evaluating ABL and EARR post-mandibular first molar extraction space closure, achieved via second molar mesialization on the extraction side (ES), was the objective of this investigation, juxtaposed with the contralateral non-extraction side (NES).A retrospective cross-sectional study utilizing pre- and post-treatment orthodontic records investigated the outcomes of young adults with complete permanent dentitions, where unilateral mandibular first molar extractions were implemented on one side, in comparison to non-extraction treatment on the contralateral side. The ES procedure was employed to mesially translate all patients' second molars, which were supported by mini-implants. Digital orthopantomographic records enabled the determination of ABL and EARR for the second molars situated on the ES and its contralateral NES counterpart. To identify full-text articles in English, a comprehensive electronic search was performed across the Scopus, Web of Science, MEDLINE/PubMed, and Google Scholar databases, from the year 2012 up to May 9, 2023.From the electronic search, a total of 549 records were identified.
