Lignin is an abundant renewable source of bio-aromatics and its valorization is of great importance. In this work, an efficient non-precious carbon based metal-Mo2C catalytic system for selective production of phenolic monomers (PMs) from organosolv lignin depolymerization is proposed. Fluzoparib With the optimized catalyst of Ni-Fe-Mo2C, 89.56% of liquefaction and 35.53% of PMs yields were achieved under 260 ℃ for 4 h with water-methanol (41 v/v) solvent. Characterization of the catalysts shows that the induction of Ni-Fe species was favor for the formation of β-Mo2C, and efficiently promoted the lignin liquefaction. The decoration of Ni/Fe can also change the side chain hydrogenolysis ability of the catalyst and exhibite high yield for 4-ethylphenol (14.77%) production. Methanol, used as co-solvent, was found to play an important role in PMs production and lignin depolymerization. These results demonstrated that the Ni-Fe-Mo2C catalytic system has potential to produce valuable phenolic monomers from lignin under mild conditions.Beamforming enhances the performance of array-based photoacoustic microscopy (PAM) systems for large-area scan. In this study, we quantify the imaging performance of a large field-of-view optical-resolution photoacoustic-microscopy system using an phased-array detector. The system combines a low-cost pulsed-laser diode with a 128-element linear ultrasound probe. Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and generalized contrast-to-noise ratio (gCNR) are quantified using the phased-array detector and applying three beamforming strategies a no-beamforming method equivalent to a single-element flat transducer, a fixed focus beamforming method that mimics a single-element focused transducer, and a dynamic focus beamforming using a delay-and-sum (DAS) algorithm. The imaging capabilities of the system are demonstrated generating high-resolution images of tissue-mimicking phantoms containing sub-millimetre ink tubes and an ex vivo rabbit's ear. The results show that dynamic focus DAS beamforming increases and homogenizes SNR along 1-cm2 images, reaching values up to 15 dB compared to an unfocused detector and up to 30 dB compared to out-of-focus regions of the fixed focus configuration. Moreover, the obtained values of gCNR using the DAS beamformer indicate an excellent target visibility, both on phantoms and ex vivo. This strategy makes it possible to scan larger surfaces compared to standard configurations using single-element detectors, paving the way for advanced array-based PAM systems.The genus Pseudooceanicola from the alphaproteobacterial Roseobacter group currently includes ten validated species. We herein describe strain Lw-13eT, the first Pseudooceanicola species from marine macroalgae, isolated from the brown alga Fucus spiralis abundant at European and North American coasts. Physiological and pangenome analyses of Lw-13eT showed corresponding adaptive features. Adaptations to the tidal environment include a broad salinity tolerance, degradation of macroalgae-derived substrates (mannitol, mannose, proline), and resistance to several antibiotics and heavy metals. Notably, Lw-13eT can degrade oligomeric alginate via PL15 alginate lyase encoded in a polysaccharide utilization locus (PUL), rarely described for roseobacters to date. Plasmid localization of the PUL strengthens the importance of mobile genetic elements for evolutionary adaptations within the Roseobacter group. PL15 homologs were primarily detected in marine plant-associated metagenomes from coastal environments but not in the open ocean, corroborating its adaptive role in algae-rich habitats. Exceptional is the tolerance of Lw-13eT against the broad-spectrum antibiotic tropodithietic acid, produced by Phaeobacter spp. co-occurring in coastal habitats. Furthermore, Lw-13eT exhibits features resembling terrestrial plant-bacteria associations, i.e. biosynthesis of siderophores, terpenes and volatiles, which may contribute to mutual bacteria-algae interactions. Closest described relative of Lw-13eT is Pseudopuniceibacterium sediminis CY03T with 98.4% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity. However, protein sequence-based core genome phylogeny and average nucleotide identity indicate affiliation of Lw-13eT with the genus Pseudooceanicola. Based on phylogenetic, physiological and (chemo)taxonomic distinctions, we propose strain Lw-13eT (=DSM 29013T=LMG 30557T) as a novel species with the name Pseudooceanicola algae. Excessive use of sinus CT is a significant problem in medical imaging, resulting in unnecessary costs and radiation exposure. This study assesses frequency of sinus CT performed after recent head imaging has already adequately evaluated the sinuses. A retrospective search of the PACS database of an academic medical center was performed to identify cases of sinus CT imaging in 2017. Cases were excluded if sinus CT was performed related to trauma, tumor, operative evaluation, or acute infection other than sinusitis (orbital cellulitis, intracranial abscess). Studies with separate imaging covering the sinuses ordered at the same time as sinus CT or performed previously within 4weeks were identified and clinical information was recorded. Of 735 sinus CTs performed, 19 (5%) had same-day head imaging and 30 (8%) had previous head imaging within 4weeks, adding up to a cumulative 13% of cases with recent head imaging. The average patient age was 42, with 13 pediatric cases. Of ordering providers, residents ordered the highest percentage of sinus CTs with same-day head imaging (84%) and previous imaging within 4weeks (63%). The sinuses were described in all head CT radiology reports, while 10 of 12 brain MRI reports did not mention the sinuses. In one year, 13% of patients receiving sinus CTs at our institution had recent head imaging. A focused education effort for ordering providers to avoid repeating sinus imaging, and for radiology to comment on sinuses on head imaging, may reduce unnecessary sinus CTs.In one year, 13% of patients receiving sinus CTs at our institution had recent head imaging.
